- Sports Video - (time limit : 2-5 minutes w/ credits included) Video, audio compilation sports action in sync with music and/or voice narration.
- Cheer/Dance Video - (time limit : 2-5 minutes w/ credits included) video, audio compilation focusing on dance and or cheer team performances in sync with music and or voice narration.
- Music Video - (time limit : 2-5 minutes w/ credits included) video, audio compilation focusing on synchronization between original video performance and accompanying music.
- Informative Story - (time limit : 2-5 minutes w/ credits included) original news story / documentary that presents data based on factual records or information of formidable consequences and significance.
- 30 Second PSA- (Public Service Announcement) must be exactly 30 seconds long. (5 extra seconds for credits)
- 30 Second Original Commercial - must be exactly 30 seconds long and must promote any product or service. (5 extra seconds for credits)
- Podcast- (time limit: 2-5 minutes w/ credits included) A podcast should roughly involve 75 % aural presentation and 25% visual. Emphasis should be strictly on audio with perhaps a video/photo introduction. Examples are conversations, non-fiction storytelling, fiction story telling, interviews, and documentaries.
- Vlogs- (time limit: 2-5 minutes w/ credits included) A vlog entry should be comprised of a video log that involves the main character tracing an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly routine that highlights something unique or interesting. The footage should be presented in a manner that is visually appealing and within good sound tolerance levels.
- Film Short - (30 seconds to 2 minutes w/ credits included) fictional or non-fiction film that covers any genre such as comedy, drama, thriller… and is between the time limit of thirty seconds to two minutes long, including credits.
- Film Short - (2 minutes to 5 minutes w/ credits included) fictional or non-fiction film that covers any genre such as comedy, drama, thriller… and is between the time limit of two minutes to five minutes long, including credits.
- Film Short - (5 minutes to 8 minutes w/ credits included) fictional or non-fiction film that covers any genre such as comedy, drama, thriller… and is between the time limit of five minutes to eight minutes long, with credits included.
- Film Short - (8 minutes to 12 minutes w/ credits included) fictional or non-fiction film that covers any genre such as comedy, drama, thriller… and is between the time limit of eight minutes to twelve minutes long, with credits included.
- Experimental – (30 seconds to 5 minutes w/ credits included) Original visuals captured through a camera lens combined with any audio (i.e.-sound effects, spoken dialogue, written dialogue, and or instrumental music. (stop-motion - {clay or drawn} would be considered experimental / can include a combination of live action with CGI - use of green screen).
- Animation – (:10 seconds to 1:00 minute w/ credits included) Visuals generated within a computer animation software combined with any audio, including sound effects, instrumentals, human dialogue either spoken or written.
- Photography – (the schools who submit more than 5 entries will judge a category and the photos & posters submitted) All photo entries must have a landscape parameter orientation. All photo entries must be taken with your phone. All photo entries must have the date/time stamp code on them. All photo entries must have the GPS coordinates stamp code on them. All photos should be of high definition resolution, JPG format, under 10 MB. All photos must be at a minimum of 1920 by 1080 pixel High-Definition (HD) quality photo that will perfectly fit a wide-screen HDTV (16:9) for full screen viewing or projection.
- Poster Contest – (the schools who submit more than 5 entries will judge a category and the photos & posters submitted) To submit a 24” x 36” poster in PDF format it has to promote an entry into the film festival i.e. / short film / experimental / animation/ music video / documentary. The poster should include all pertinent information to the entry, i. e/ director / actors / relevant tagline. The POSTER must include within its parameters this title: COMING TO THE FRONTERA FILM FESTIVAL 2020. Frontera will print all posters submitted for viewing by the attending public and for you to take home after the Frontera Film Festival Awards are presented.
