The Frontera Film Festival 2020 Artist Scavenger Hunt:
By FFF Coordinator: Ms. Bernice Polendo
Intro
The Frontera Film Festival has been a place for people to network and bond with others over their interest in audio and video production. The festival has continued to grow and this activity might help it grow even more. The people who attend the festival are intrigued by audio and video production but why not include local artists in the fun? This activity could bring local artists to our festival and even pique their interest in producing films so why wouldn’t we want that right
What?
This scavenger hunt would simply just require someone, anyone really, to sketch, draw, paint, or create something. Then during the festival, the creator would have to go hide their artwork anywhere in the area, whether it be in the locations of the festival or the streets in between them. They would then have to snap a quick shot of the hiding place that they left their artwork at and post it on their Instagram while tagging the Frontera Film Festival page and using the hashtag #freefronteraart. People participating can then search the hashtag on Instagram and set out on a mission to find the art work of their choice that is hidden in locations. The only rules are that the artwork must be PG-13 and contain no vulgar or insulting language and in order to participate and be qualified to take a free art piece, you must leave an art piece.
Closing
This scavenger hunt is something simple but yet something that will help draw the attention of local artists to get out there and contribute their work to others while also being able to take another’s work. This activity could involve anyone that is in middle school, high school, college, well, basically anyone that can create art. I know I keep mentioning the word “artists” and that may intimidate people but anyone, literally anyone, can create artwork because art is literally anything you want it to be. There are no actual rules to art, no right or wrongs, so this activity is inclusive to all that want to participate. There is so much hidden talent everywhere that we want to discover and this might be a great way to do it! The Frontera Film Festival began small and with a limited variety of categories of film, but it is becoming more and more inclusive with the film and non-film categories and possibly even photography, so why not include something for people who enjoy grabbing a paper and pen and making magic with it? That’s just how simple it can be, we want to progress and grow as the festival keeps aging and this could be the start of something bigger to come in the future.
